Tape transfer FAQ

How much does video tape transfer cost?

Standard tape transfer starts at $25 per tape for recordings up to 2 hours. Final quotes may change based on tape count, length, condition, rush requests, and USB delivery needs.

How long does tape transfer take?

Turnaround depends on tape count, condition, and current workload. Submit the intake form first, then we will confirm quote and scheduling details before any drop-off.

What tape formats are supported?

The core supported formats are VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, MiniDV, and HDV. SVT is growing and plans to add more media formats soon. If you are not sure what format you have, choose Unsure on the intake form.

Do you make DVDs?

The default deliverable is one MP4 file per tape. MP4 files are more compatible with modern phones, tablets, computers, smart TVs, cloud storage, and sharing services than DVDs. Need DVD services? Start intake and we may be able to help you.

Do tapes leave Seattle?

No. Your original media is dropped off at the same location services are rendered.

What if a tape is blank, damaged, or moldy?

Damaged, moldy, blank, or poorly recorded tapes may not transfer successfully. Simple transfer does not include advanced repair, restoration, editing, or color correction unless quoted separately. Start an intake form and describe the tape condition; we may be able to help.

Can tapes be dropped off without an appointment?

No. Please submit an intake request first and wait for confirmed drop-off instructions before bringing tapes.

Limitations
